Nasty Politics

We finally had our primary elections. Maybe now we will get a break from all the nasty political ads. I don’t like all the accusations and innuendos of the modern political ads. Why can’t the candidates take a stand on the issues and explain their views rather than attacking their opponents?

Going to Miss Karry King

Although I do not watch Larry King very much, he is truly a broadcast icon.

I don’t care how many wives he’s had. I just like the way he has access to a huge variety of important or entertaining people.

His interviews are always interesting and insightful. I’m going to miss him when he retires.

Too Much Snow!

This year has been a very snowy one for us and for the East Coast. I have friends in Maryland who say that they have over 3 feet of snow on the ground. That’s so crazy!

We had some snow but not enough to cause any real trouble. But if we had 3 feet of snow, I’m sure there would be some serious trouble for many of the people who live here and in the outlying areas. We are not equipped to deal with a large snowfall.

DC got a lot of snow, too. The Federal Government had to shut down for several days because DC was overwhelmed with a record snowfall. Imagine not getting any mail for a week!

The Big Companies

I heard of a survey that asked a few questions about American opinions. I don’t like surveys – they can be so slanted toward the desired outcomes that I don’t put much faith in them. The company sponsoring the survey usually has a lot to say about the questions and how they are presented. Then the surveyors have to reach a good cross section of people to be polled. that is pretty hard to do, too. They pretty much only reach people who have a home telephone, who can be reached at home and who agree to answer the questions. Then you have to wonder if they answered the questions honestly.

But this survey asked an interesting question, “What American company do you feel best represents America?”

The most popular answer was a complete disappointment to me. The survey says that the most popular answer was “WalMart.”

But what they don’t tell is if it was an open ended question or was it multiple choice with just 5 companies named? See how the results can be influenced very easily?

March Leaves Like a Lamb

The month of March is almost over – I can’t believe it. At least we have had nicer weather than expected. The month came in like a lion, with snow and windy days. But now that the month is about to be gone, it has been lovely days and March is leaving like a lamb. So that old saying must be true!
