Working on New Years
Well it kinda stinks that I have to work on New Year’s Eve. But then again, I will be at a party and I can still have some fun. I will be working as a DJ for a group of older people that wanted to have a party at their condo’s community room. So it will be a relatively small gathering – maybe 50-60 people, who want to hear classic rock and music easy to dance to. I get to eat whatever food they have out and I’ll make the countdown and announcement over the microphone and an hour later I’ll have my gear packed up and headed home to hit the sack.
Happy New everyone and be safe out there – especially if you are on the road tonight!
Happy Holidays
At Christmas I want to take a moment and wish all my friends a very happy holiday season. It’s more than just Christmas or other religion based days of celebration. It’s the entire season of the final two weeks in the month of December, the final two weeks of the year 2008.
Hope you enjoy whichever holiday you celebrate and that the New Year coming will be your best year ever!
Popcorn
We have a small kitchen at the office with a microwave, but when someone cooks in the microwave the odor of that food goes through the whole office. So we have bought some air freshener spray and posted some rules about cooking in the kitchen. Like, no popcorn is allowed and no fish. The popcorn smells good unless it gets burnt, but it does smell very strong and can be as objectionable as fish.
So I have not had popcorn since I started this job. I just put popcorm out of my mind and I don’t think of it anymore. It’s strange to think that where I work actually affects what I eat. I used to like popcorn.
Green Tea
It’s been at least two years since I made the decision to stop drinking carbonated beverages and try to drink more healthy choices. One of my favorite cold drinks is Green Tea, which is also good as hot tea. I first tried a cold green tea by Lipton, which was good and I drank that several times each week for a few months. And then I got a wild hair and decided to try a Sobe green tea. OMG! What a huge difference and it is my favorite casual drink out of all the things that I drink.
Christmas Cards
There are some darling online Christmas cards that you can personalize and then send out to an email address. I will do that for a dozen friends and family that have access to computers at home. But there are still about 20 people that would prefer to receive that old school, real paper, Christmas card. I guess I’ll stop by the Hallmark store on the way home tonight and buy a box of nice cards. To be honest, I don’t even know how much first class postage is these days. It keep going up and I don’t every buy stamps any more. But for these Christmas cards I’ll need to get real stamps and pay whatever they ask.
